I received an email from Jean Meltzer-Maskuli with a link to a post she wrote about letters to her husband when he deployed. She wanted to share with me the importance of community in supporting our U.S. military personnel.
I asked her to provide some information about herself so that I could share the information and her post here on my Mrs. Lieutenant blog.
She wrote:
Jean Meltzer-Maskuli is currently studying to be a rabbi at the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College in Wyncote, Pennsylvania.
Prior to beginning rabbinical school, Jean served as the creative director for Tapestry International, an Oscar-winning television and film production company.
During her tenure in that position, she garnered numerous awards for her work, including a National Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Children's Series.
Her husband Xhevair Maskuli is a non-commissioned officer and staff sergeant in the Army Reserves. He has been deployed to Iraq twice.
First from 2004-2005, serving with the 306th Military Police battalion in Abu Ghraib, Iraq. From 2009-2010 he was stationed at the Victory Base Complex in Baghdad, Iraq, as part of the MNC-I C2 CACE.
Jean and Xhevair Maskuli are proud to serve both their country and their religion. They hope that their story brings faith, courage and strength to all in the United States military.
Now read her post about letters to a deployed soldier.
